Whether you're into free bets action, decent loyalty programs, or just thousands of betting markets to choose from, Betway could be for you.
One of the newer kids on the block, Betway have been very active in attracting new punters to their sportsbook and casino site.
But is the effort worth it? Let’s have a look at why Betway could be the ‘way’ to bet online in the future.
- Licensed in Malta and the UK
- On-site Radio Player has coverage from around the racecourses
- No-nonsense homepage and easy-to-access markets
- Huge range of payment methods for real-money customers
- Lack of Live Streaming action
- Short on lower-league English football betting
- Homepage could be slicker
Betway runs the Betway Plus promotion for new customers (see below), where the more you play, the more bonus points you’ll earn.
However, for a straight welcome bonus, new customers can earn a £30 maximum free bet when they deposit.
A minimum of £10 is needed to trigger the free bet, and bets must be placed within 7 days of registering.
Markets and Bets
Betway boasts over 30,000 betting markets, including all the usual football, golf and tennis mayhem, plus in-play betting and Live Action Sports.
Football markets are available on Premier League English football, as well as La Liga in Spain, Serie A in Italy, and the Bundesliga in Germany. There were no options to place ante-post bets on lower-league English football when we reviewed the site, which was a massive downside.
There’s a limited range of markets on tennis, basketball and gold, but the ‘second place special’ (see below) gives racing punters some chance of getting their money back. And there are some interesting unique markets like judo, pool and pesapillo.
Horse racing bettors can take advantage of the ‘Second Place Special’ bet. If you place a winner bet on selected races and your horse is beaten into 2nd by less than a length, you’ll receive a free bet up to the value of £25.
Betway offers a decent selection of in-play betting markets on football, tennis and other sports. The betting slip is among the least complicated we’ve seen at a UK betting site too. Enhanced odds are offered not just on racing but baseball, eSports, basketball and tennis too.
A handy ‘Quick Links’ menu on the homepage gives you easy access to popular markets, while the ‘In-Play’, ‘Live Now’ and ‘Upcoming’ tabs are great for those who don’t want to trawl through a hundred pages to get to their bets.
Meanwhile, Betway’s own Radio Player offers action from around UK racecourses.
Promotions and Offers
Betway Plus earns real-money customers at the site Plus Points each time they bet. The good thing is it’s linked to Betway’s casino room too, so you can earn points whatever you play.
Every time you bet €10 (the bonus is always calculated in Euros, not GBP), you’ll earn 5 Plus Points. The more you earn the more benefits you’ll bag.
As with many online casinos, the programme is tiered, with 5,000 points needed to attain Silver. 2,500,000 Plus Points gets you into the top Privé tier. Points can then be exchanged for bonus credits or gifts.
Away from the loyalty program, Betway also offers money-back specials on football accumulators, insurance bets on selected tennis matches, and a free bet special on selected horse races if your horse is beaten by a length.
Deposit Methods / Banking
There’s a great list of payment methods for UK customers, including VISA, VISA Electron, Maestro, MasterCard, Citadel Direct, ClickandBuy, Bank transfer, ecoPayz, EziPay, NETELLER, PayPal, paysafecard, Skrill/Skrill 1-Tap and Ukash. Minimum deposits are pretty low too.
We found the email support quick and helpful, while the 24-hour live chat did its job on a range of topics.

Live Chat: Available 24/7 on-site
Whether you’re into free bets action, decent loyalty programs, or just thousands of betting markets to choose from, Betway could be for you. Despite some limited football action (which could well have been down to the time of year), there’s enough here for the most jaded sportsbook punter to get their teeth into.
